What is the Pastoral Residency Program?
A pastoral residency is a training program designed for seminary students preparing for a lifetime of pastoral service. It provides a bridge between theological education and full-time ministry by offering real-world experience in the life of the local church. Residents engage deeply with the daily realities of pastoral work while continuing to reflect theologically on their calling and gifts.
The residency is intentionally structured to help future pastors clarify their sense of call and develop the spiritual, emotional, and practical tools they will need for long-term ministry. Through mentorship, ministry involvement, and guided reflection, residents grow in character, competency, and confidence. They are given space to try, to fail, to ask questions, and to be shaped under the care of seasoned leaders.
Participants in the program serve in meaningful roles—preaching, leading ministries, providing pastoral care, and participating in church leadership—while receiving ongoing feedback and support. This holistic approach ensures that residents are not only theologically grounded but also equipped to lead with wisdom, humility, and resilience. A pastoral residency is more than a training program—it’s a launching pad for healthy, sustainable, and fruitful pastoral ministry.
